Welcome!
Calling all high school students! Come join us every other Sunday in Claretian Hall starting with mass at 11:30 a.m. We will have free food, games, fellowship, faith sharing, music, and more. We can't wait to see you at St. John Youth Minisrty.
Why have Youth Ministry?
"The most effective catechetical program for adolescents are integrated into a comprehensive program of pastoral ministry for youth that includes catechesis, community life, evangelization, justice and service, leadership development, pastoral care, and prayer and worship. Such programs aim to empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today; to draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community; and to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person." (National Directory for Catechesis, p. 201)
St. John Youth Minisrty seeks to lead all teens to Christ through creative catechesis, evangelization, and fellowship. Youth Ministry not only seeks to introduce teens to Christ but also to give them the tools to foster a life-long relationship with Christ in His Church. Throughout all the activities, events, and teaching moments, Youth Ministry seeks to bring Christ’s love to the teens.
Am I qualified?
If you have a heart for youth and a desire to help them become rooted in their catholic faith as disciples of Christ, so that as they transition from High School into young adulthood they don't fall away from the Church and her teaching you would make a good candidate.
Who makes a good candidate?
We find that High School Graduates, College Students, and Young Married Couples along with Older Individuals and Married Couples with a youthful spirit and energy are best suited for this rewarding ministry. You must be Catholics in good standing who have received all Sacraments of Initiation (baptism, eucharist, and confirmation) and if married you must have entered into the Sacrament of Marriage in the Church.
We are always in need of Youth Ministers for our High School Youth program, so if you have an interest in this rewarding ministry please contact our Religious Education Director or Youth Coordinator who coordinates this program.
